SDCC: Café Defiance & Preview Night Swag

10 years I've been dreaming about going to San Diego Comic Con and after over a year of planning and some extremely good luck this year it finally happened! I quite honestly had the best time ever and for the most part that was down to the awesome people I was with, internet friends turned real life friends is the best thing ever, I'm so happy we got on so well and I already miss Violet, Steph and Yume so much!

So let's kick off with Wednesday and Preview Night; The girls and I wandered down to the Convention Center to get our badges but as we had a couple hours wait we decided to check out the Gaslamp Quarter for some food and fun and ended up in Café Defiance.

Defiance actually looks pretty good from the few episodes I've seen and the café looked awesome, I was a little sad there wasn't more alien themed food but I loved the addition of the alien languages into the menu.

Of course I'm in 'Merica so I was back on my all you can eat burger diet and I have to say this one was pretty damn good although it came with a mountain of fries but I ate as much as I could because I knew decent meals from this point onwards were going to be a rarity...

After lunch we picked up our badges and bags, I was kinda disappointed I didn't get a Supernatural bag but thought this one would make a nice gift for The Dad seeing as he still likes The Big Bang Theory and then it was time to get ready for the craziness that was Preview Night.

So I severely underestimated how busy Preview Night would be having only experienced it at London Comic Con where it is pretty much empty I wasn't prepared for the mass of people and the crazy queues but I had one mission that night and it was to get my SDCC Exclusive Stark Shields from Dark Horse.

As soon as doors opened I made a run quick walk to Dark Horse to pick up my shields and after a 10 minute wait they were mine (YEY!) then after seeing the craziness that was the Marvel booth I decided to go check out the Funko booth but by the time I got there the line was closed (Booooo!) so then after a quick stop to pick up my Supernatural tee, some browsing and seeing the mayhem that was Lego I returned to Marvel where I spent the rest of the night (2 hours!!!) in line only to have the con close when I was front on line, luckily Marvel were nice and gave me a "fastpass" so I could jump the line and pick up my stuff the next day so all was not lost and I did pick up a lot of free swag from them.

So that was my crazy Preview Night but it did prepare me for the even crazier days ahead of me but I'll tell you all about that another time!

5 (Fan)tastic Supernatural Inspired Tees

Supernatural is one of the most awesome shows on TV and has been my favourite series since the very first time I watched it one lonely night back in 2006! I've been wearing my Samulet a lot over the past few months and realised I have a severe lack of Supernatural related type things and my geeky tee collection would not be complete without a bit of Supernatural in there so here are a few of my favourite Supernatural inspired T-shirts.

Although this is a really simple design it's so perfect. I really like subtle, clever designs and this is definitely one of them, there's so many nerdy little details in it, I mean a coat of arms made of "arms" which look like wings that's really smart!

There seems to be a theme running here but I'm a sucker for all these crest designs, Supernatural at it's heart is about family so there's nothing better to represent that than a family crest, I'm also loving the nod to Bobby in this design because family don't end with blood, boy!

These tees are my absolute favourite Supernatural inspired designs ever not only do I love that Art Nouveau look but there are so many references to classic lines, episodes and the fandom in them. I would absolutely love to see more designs especially a Bobby one but in the meantime all 3 of these are going to the top of my Birthday Wishlist.

Supernatural doesn't have that many great female characters but Charlie is one of my favourites even though she's only been in a few episodes so far. Charlie has an amazing rapport with the boys, and her character is so smart, strong and funny much like Felicia Day is in real life, I definitely hope we see more of her soon!

Remember The Colt!? Seems like a lifetime ago since this baby was introduced into the show but I absolutely loved the mythology created around it and the excuse it gave them to make a Western episode, I definitely need to get myself a Colt replica but in the meantime I'm loving this tee!

Are you a Supernatural fan? Be sure to let me know your favourite episode in the comments!

10 Deliciously Vegan Recipes

Being healthy has been one of my main priorities this year and I'm slowly beginning to learn what foods my body can and can't take. Sometimes being healthy can leave you with a lack of inspiration in the kitchen so I've been trying out a bunch of new recipes, a lot of which have been vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free so thought I would share a few of my favourites for you guys to try out as well.

Seeded Banana Bread with Dried Figs & Apricots -  I made this for my mum's birthday and she LOVED it so much so that I've made it several times since and her friends are now asking me to make one for them so this is definitely a recipe you all need to try out.

Avocado Gnocchi - This was AMAZING who knew that avocado would make such great gnocchi and I got so much gnocchi from one avocado that I ended up eating it for dinner and lunch the next day to.

Vegan Pad Thai - I slightly adapted this recipe to my own Pad Thai recipe but the marinated Tofu remained the same and was so delicious that I will definitely be making this again.

Veggie Paella with Saffron & Orange - Paella is the best, this was so fresh and summery and the orange just took it to the next level.

Sesame-Crusted Tofu with Nuoc Cham - Tofu is great although a little boring but the added crunch of the sesame seeds and the chilli dip make it a great snack.

Gluten Free Coconut Cupcakes - Coconut oil is my new favourite thing, it tastes so good eggs and even better in cakes.

Crunchy Kale and Coconut Bowl - Kale seems to be out of season now but when it was cheap and plentiful  I went on a bit of a kale obsession, I love this recipe so much because it makes the kale taste like my favourite snack seaweed yum!

Banana Spelt Muffins with Coconut Cream & Strawberry Jam - Breakfast is something I've started to eat recently but sometimes I don't have time to make anything but these muffins have been my morning saviour.

Honey Apricot Bread - Ok so this isn't vegan but I did use almond milk and chia seeds instead of the regular milk and eggs when I made this and it came out perfect, just replace the honey with agave syrup and you have the perfect vegan loaf!

Spicy Edamame Burgers - I bought a big bag of Edamame to snack on and wanted to try something different and there's nothing better than a good burger sometimes!

Do you have any great recipes to share? Be sure to let me know in the comments!
